At Yes We Can we only use high quality interconnected RF wireless photoelectric smoke alarms meeting Australian standard (AS 3786:2014) with a 5 year warranty from an Australian supplier with local knowledge & support.
The smoke alarms we use are a sealed unit that cannot be tampered with and have a 10 year lithium battery that does not require a yearly battery change.

Smoke alarm Testing & Installation

From 1 January 2022, all homes being sold, leased or having their lease renewed must have hardwired photoelectric, interconnected smoke alarms installed in every bedroom, connecting hallways and on each storey.

From 1 January 2027, this requirement will apply to all homes.

Smoke alarms in the dwelling must:

  • Be photoelectric (AS3786-2014); and
  • Not also contain an ionisation sensor; and
  • Be hardwired to the mains power supply, if currently hardwired. Otherwise, smoke alarms can be either hardwired or powered by a non removable 10 yr battery or a combination of both.
  • Be interconnected with every other smoke alarm in the dwelling so all activate together.
  • On each storey
  • In each bedroom
  • If there is no hallway, between the bedroom and other parts of the storey; and
  • If there are no bedrooms on a storey, at least one smoke alarm must be installed in the most likely path of travel to exit the dwelling.

Home Safety Switch Testing

Over time safety switches in your home may not function as well or within specified limits.

Due to the harsh Qld climate and conditions can add to the effect to cause your safety switch to fail.

A safety switch is a device that quickly switches of the electrical supply if an electrical fault is detected, to minimise the risk of fires, electric shock, injury & death.

Using our Rcd/Safety switch tester we test to see if all electrical safety switches are still operating correctly, to automatically turn off the power to the home.

Frequently Asked Questions

How Often Should We Test & Tag?

The main determining factor for how often an electrical appliance should be tested, is the type of environment that appliance is located. Increased exposure to the elements can shorten the life of your equipment and therefore require more frequently scheduled testing and tagging.

What Is a RCD?

An RCD is a Residual Current Device. This device is designed to prevent the occurrence of a fatal electric shock should one touch a live item like exposed cable or a broken light switch. RCD’s offer a higher level of personal protection that a standard fuse or circuit breaker cannot.

What happens if an item fails the test?

From time to time, an electrical item can fail. It is the responsibility of a technician to report the defective item and label it accordingly. These items are legally required to be withdrawn from use and depending on the fault, further testing or repairs can be completed to fix the fault. Our team will discuss any faulty items with you the business owner and give the best solutions for moving forward with such equipment.

Does The Equipment Need To Be Turned Off To Test?

Yes they do! It is an electrical hazard for the equipment to be live when testing is being conducted. This is for the safety of operators and customers. Once the assessment has been completed, the equipment can be turned back on.

What is Test and Tag?

Test and Tag is the name given to the process of checking the electrical safety of portable electrical appliances. It involves two parts: first visually inspecting the appliance for any damage, followed by electrically testing it with a Portable Appliance Tester.

How Long Does It Take To Test Equipment?

The time required to test and tag depends on the appliance being tested. Most appliances should take only a few minutes at a time. The visual inspection of the appliance is first. This aids the technician’s judgement on which electrical test is necessary. Some appliances require several tests prior to being labelled as safe and acceptable.

What Our Customers Say

Darren’s service is the most efficient, reliable service I have ever had. As a childcare owner, my diary is occupied by hundred of exams, testing from different departments each year. Darren always reminds me when it is close to the tags test time which gives me peace of mind. He is so flexible, always minimise the interference to our operation while he is doing tags testing. Most of all, he is always going above and beyond to his clients. I asked help once for some report from two years ago, he sent me straightaway without any delay. Darren always provides us professional, efficient, pleasant experience with his service.

I only have positive feedback to your service, Darren. Thank you.

- Wendy, Childcare Centre Owner ,

Happy to recommend  Yes We Can Electrical Test and Tagging for their test and tagging service.  They have been carrying out our business test and tagging for several years now, and we have always been completely satisfied with the company’s service.  They are always punctual, thorough and will happily work in with the time constraints of our business.  A comprehensive report is provided which makes compliance that much easier and their rates are competitive.  It’s a set and forget service, with reminder emails bringing due dates to our attention.  Having professional technicians like Darren to work with makes it so much easier to manage the compliance minefield.
